Bechamel Kartoffeln

Ingredients:
For the potatoes:
1 kg (2.2 lbs) potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
Salt, for boiling
For the Béchamel sauce:
50 g (3.5 tbsp) butter
50 g (3.5 tbsp) all-purpose flour
500 ml (2 cups) milk
1 pinch of nutmeg
Salt and pepper, to taste
For assembly:
100 g (3.5 oz) grated cheese (e.g., Gruyère or Emmental)
Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
